It depends. Live plants are useful in the ammonia cycle and Beneficial  in other ways, but you also have to feed them, get the right lighting, and DO NOT LET YOUR FISH EAT THEM OR PUT GOLDFISH IN THE TANK.

Once you hve your new aquarium be sure to cycle it 1-7 days for a power filter and 14-21 days with a undergravel filter. Also add one fish at a time and build it up slowly.

I would go with the grasses and the feathery plants. You might also add a rock with holes in it for the fish to hide in.

In some small tanks (around five gallons) The light will heat the tank up to 75 F. It would be safer just to go with a heater.

Hey a fish is a fish. The larger the tank and the healthier its environment the better it does.

Flake food is very good for your betta although it might take some time for them to get used to it.

As you said in another post the size you want to get is 10-20. I would have to agree that those sizes are the easiest, but a twenty or twentyfive gallon would not be much more. It is your decision though
